Its size (8,141 ha) covers the Wałbrzych, Ząbkowice, Kłodzko and Dzierżonowski counties. Located in the Central Sudety, it delights not only with its interesting terrain (narrow valleys crossed by streams), but also with its unwavering plant cover, which perfectly reflects the spirit of wild and impregnable Polish forests. The Bukowa Kalenica reserve is responsible for the protection of unique landscape forms in the park.
The oldest mountains in Sudety Mountains
The Owl Mountains are one of the oldest mountains in the Central Sudety. The highest peak - Great Owl - measures 1015 m above sea level. Also worth seeing is the Włodarz massif, located slightly off the beaten path, with a height of 811 m above sea level. The Owl Mountains are characterized by unique relief and a variety of landscapes, thanks to the effective protection against corrosion and other external factors. During the walk, you can come across both river valleys and high-mountain valleys, with waterfalls here and there, rock steps and valleys cut by streams. The area that is most popular among tourists due to its attractive landscapes is the Great Owl Massif with Kalenica and the Jugowska Pass. This small area of land has numerous educational paths and observation towers allowing you to observe the local fauna and flora.

While staying in the Owl Mountains Landscape Park, it is worth going to Kalenica, where there is one of the most frequently visited observation towers. This place attracts tourists due to its extraordinary landscape values. It is also impossible to miss the Bukowa Kalenica reserve, which protects, among others, old beech trees and numerous species of mosses and ferns. The Owl Mountains also have a lot to offer to winter sports enthusiasts - in Rzeczka and Sokolec there are attractive ski slopes, and the terrain in the park allows for cross-country skiing.
How can you get there?
Pałac Jugowice is located just over 20 km from the Owl Mountains Landscape Park. Near the most frequently visited viewpoints there are numerous parking lots and places where you can rest after the hike - restaurants and cafes. On the way to the park, you can also see numerous other attractions, such as the Underground City of Osówka and the Walim Adits.
